I'm in Norfolk, Virginia, at the Eastern Region Student Conference for the National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. (NABA) and just finished a presentation on International Financial Reporting Standards.

I'm so impressed with these students that I must blog about it. When I entered the conference hotel in my less-than-professional travel digs, I was overwhelmed with a lobby filled with professionally-dressed individuals. I suddenly became very aware, self conscious, and quite embarrassed of my attire. At the same time, the professor in me became enormously proud of what I hoped would be my audience at the NABA conference.  My first impressions have been reinforced by equally impressive encounters with NABA members in the elevators, hotel restaurant, and now a conference session over the last 24 hours.

I'm proud to have been invited to present sessions on IFRS and Professional Designations, as well as moderate a session on the CPA exam, at this conference to this fine group of professionals. You have been impressive to watch and a pleasure to meet.

Our accounting profession's future is in good hands. The NABA student accounting association, and other student organizations I've been fortunate enough to see in action, provide me with great confidence and such pride.
