Once you have achieved one designation with The American College – either a CLU®, ChFC®, or CASL® – it is easy to achieve a second
because the programs share many of the same courses.
If you are pursuing your first designation, it is a good idea to choose electives that will satisfy course requirements for whichever additional
designation you are interested in earning. For example, if you are studying for a CLU® and think that you will eventually pursue a ChFC®,
you would want to select 300, 321, and 326 as your three CLU® electives because these are required courses within the ChFC® program.
Legend
- Required - Elective - Not Applicable
The graph to the left illustrates the required courses as well as elective course options for all three designations that share cross-over courses.
A under a designation indicates that it is a requirement for that course
listed in that row on the left.
A represents each of the elective choices. For the
CLU® program, you must select three out of the five possible electives. For ChFC®, you must select two out of the three
possible electives.
