When Is the Study Seminar for Financial Analysts?

How will I know if I am properly registered for SSFA?

You will receive acknowledgement of your registration. For information on all available discounts, call 608-779-5599 or 888-325-5072. You may also send your inquiry via email to staff@schweser.com.

When can I check in?

  • Check-in is 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, Saturday, May 3rd, at the Alumni Hall, which is located on Sunset Ave., south of Wyandotte.
  • Room assignments and seminar materials will be distributed during the check-in period.

NOTE: If you plan to arrive on Friday, May 2, 2008 please let us know in advance to assure that your room is ready. Check in on Friday is anytime after 3:00 pm at Alumni Hall. Someone will be available to assist you 24 hours a day during the seminar. Candidates arriving on Friday may pick up seminar materials between 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm on Friday evening. Please contact the SSFA Assistant Director at 519-253-3000 Ext. 3143 to make arrangements for early arrival or late departure.

What should I know about the classes at SSFA?

All classes start on Saturday, May 3rd, at 1:30 pm and will be held in the Health Education Building, which touts modern classrooms with comfortable seating.

Bring your Schweser Study Notes, and if you have not already purchased your Study Notes, you can do so by visiting www.schweser.com. Also bring notepaper, pencils, pens, calculators, highlighters, etc.; for your convenience, the University Bookstore will be open to purchase supplies.

Can I receive CPE credits for attending SSFA?

NASBA Disclaimer: Schweser is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. The CPE credits available for the Study Seminar for Financial Analysts (SSFA) are as follows: Level 1 48; Level 2 44.5; Level 3 44.5. How can I communicate with those who are not at SSFA?

  • Callers can leave messages at 519-253-3000 Ext. 3143.
  • Evening calls should be made to 1-888-561-5552 or 519-973-7041.
  • Our staff will deliver messages to you by calling your name at the beginning of class.
  • All rooms will have a phone for local calls; phone cards may be purchased from Conference Services for long distance calls.
  • PLEASE! Turn off your cell phone before entering the classroom.
  • If you anticipate receiving written correspondence from the United States, please inform your correspondent that postage to Canada from the United States is 69 cents for the first ounce and goes up for each additional ounce after.

As a traveler, what are some important things for me to know?

  • IMPORTANT: Security at the Canada-U.S. border has been heightened and identification is closely monitored. U.S. citizens will be required to show a current passport or a birth certificate and government-issued photo identification (e.g., driver's license) when crossing the Canada-U.S. border by land.
  • Non-U.S. citizens should check with their travel agents as to what documentation (passport, visa, etc.) will be required for entry to the U.S. and Canada. At this point however, we strongly urge any candidates traveling by air to secure a passport.
  • Anyone flying into the United States (e.g., to Detroit, MI) will require a valid passport (this includes Canadians).

How do I get to Windsor?

  • Arriving from Detroit airport:
    • Detroit Metro Airport Taxi (white with orange stripes) goes directly from the airport to the University at a cost of about 60 USD plus toll. It will take approximately 35 to 40 minutes to get to the University of Windsor from the Detroit airport.
  • Arriving from Windsor airport or railroad station:
    • Take a taxi directly to Alumni Hall. The taxi will take about 15-20 minutes to get to the University from either the airport or railroad station at a cost of 30-35 CAD.
  • For those arriving by personal car, the University will provide parking spaces at no additional charge. Please contact the SSFA Assistant Director at 519-253-3000 Ext. 3143 to secure a parking permit.

What if I need to cancel my registration?

  • All cancelations must be received in writing. Refund of registration fees will be subject to a $100 US|CAN cancellation fee after February 1, 2008.

Are there other things I should know before coming to SSFA?

  • All meals will be served in the Vanier Hall dining rooms.
  • You must wear your name tag (received at registration) to meals.
  • If you arrive Friday, May 2nd, you are responsible for your own dinner. Breakfast will be served Saturday morning.
  • Several restaurants are located within a two block radius of the campus.
  • Linens and towels will be provided with your room.
  • Be sure to bring an alarm clock or clock radio.
  • Dress during the seminar is casual.
  • As the weather in May in Windsor is unpredictable, we will provide compact umbrellas.
  • We recommend that you bring a sweater and/or light jacket and dress in layers.
  • The University of Windsor is designated a non-smoking, smoke free environment.
  • Smoking is not allowed in the residence rooms, classrooms, etc. Smoking is only permitted in designated smoking areas.
  • Attendees will be charged a 25 CAD university fee for unreturned Alumni room keys and a 50 CAD university fee for unreturned Cartier keys.
  • The University has recreational facilities including: tennis courts, a swimming pool, a gym and a jogging track available for your use. You can pick up a daily gym pass at the Conference Desk located in Alumni Hall. There is also a beautiful path along the river front for walking, jogging or rollerblading.
